With my first, it took a year and a half. I talked to my Dr about it a little before a year of trying. My husband and I were both tested.  I have pcos. I am now 25 weeks with my second. This time we tried for a little over a year. I was only going to try for a few more months, when I got pregnant.

The first one took us 4 months and only after I lost my job and we stopped actually trying.
After first baby we were using protection for about 8 months then decided not to anymore. We weren't trying, just being lazy. We didnt conceive our second until more than a year after that. She was just a surprise.
My third we started trying and got pregnant right away but unfortunately miscarried. We grieved for about 6 months and started trying again in April.  Conceived in June without problems.
Just for laughs, watch What to expect when you're expecting. It's got all different scenarios and its quite funny.

Ask your dr for a referral to a fertility specialist

a few things to try...get a ovulation kit to figure out when is the best time to try, take a prenatal to help get your body right and most important...relax and stop stressing it will happen at the right time.
p.s. I also had a fertility book that help me track my basal temp. I'm 14+2 weeks pregnant with my second child I'm 37 years old.
