38w preg and ready to meet baby!

I know "Little One" will arrive when he/she is ready but you would think with today's technology there would be some sort of way to determine about when that big day may be.  I'm just over 38 weeks and per my last ultra sound this child's estimated weight is over 8 lbs!  I know ultra sounds aren't always acurate but the thought of delivering a pre-schooler just sounds painful.  I really do not want a c-section either if at all possible.  Neither my hubby or I are big people and have no idea where all the chubbiness is coming from since we were both small and my husband's 2 children from his previous marriage were also the average 7 lb.  All my tests have come back normal and good.  No signs yet of possilbe early arrival and my due date is the 15th.  Question being is it actually possible to go all the way to my due date or even later with "Little One" already being this big and is there any way at all to start noticing any signs, if any, that we'll be going into labor soon?

I am 37w1d - so just behind you!!   I am not sure how accurate ultrasounds are at measuring the baby when they are at this late stage when the babies are all squished.  They said my nephew was about 7-8 pounds and he ended up being 10.5 pounds and they let my SIL go 8 days past her due date!!!  She is also very thin and maybe 5'5" and delivered him vaginally.  It was very tough on her but she recovered eventually!  I wouldn't worry too much - there is not much you can do to control it at this point!!  And you don't have much longer so hang in there!!!
