43 years old and first pregnancy

I went this past week and confirmed I am pregnant. I am excited and surprised and a little nervous. Age factor and all the possible things that could go wrong circling in my head. The important thing is to keep positive and try not to focus on all the small or big things that could go wrong... it kinda scared me though as I just experienced a scary moment. I went to go to the bathroom and wiped and had blood with a tiny little clot? Now I know there can be normal bleeding as the egg settles/attaches and that there is more then usual blood flowing in and excess can and will be expelled, it is still nerve wracking though. I am anywhere between 6-8 weeks pregnant and most certainly hopeful I can carry to full term and trying to keep positive about things but I have never been pregnant before and other then reading whats normal or can be expected feel like I am still just as ignorant as if I had not read up on it. This is completely out of my hands and what will happen will happen, its just hard being on the sidelines and not really able to be in control... any advice welcome.

Congrats! Now a days, women are having babies well into their 40s. I know so many people! Look at all of the celebrities in their high 40s having perfect babies. Plus, technology and doctors, knowledge, medicine, all have come a long way! Mind over matter! This is exactly what was meant to happen for you, which is exactly why this is all going to be great. Spotting is normal this early and throughout. Be open and honest with your doctor and stay away from Google. You got this. Celebrate, today, and each day, and smile. You should be happy!

Congrats! It's scary but you are so right...think positive. Thus early on they can monitor using blood draws if your levels are increasing if you worry about losing it. As you get a bit further along, the er can look at your cervix and see if it's tight meaning a threatened miscarriage which 50% go through and all is fine, or an actual miscarriage.
