I was told by my doctor today that my results from my Nuchal Translucency Scan showed that I would have a 1 in 5 chance for DS, based on my age (35) and the fact my scan showed up 4mm fluid. I never had the blood test to back this up however as my bloods were misplaced, or taken incorrectly, so doctor basing decision on scan alone. It was too late for me to take another Nuchal Trans test as I did the initial one at 13 weeks day 6. So I decided to just wait for the anomaly scan and see how that one would go. I am now 22 weeks and had my anomaly scan last week which showed everything to be totally fine and "normal", baby was declared healthy! I figured this was enough to feel rest assured, that was until I showed my usual doctors the results (I did this scan privately as I wanted to be sure) Doctor from the NHS said the anomaly scan doesn't show up any DS risks, and that it does not suggest baby will not have DS, she is now recommending the Amnio test but I am too nervous, and do not like the potential miscarriage risks. I just think 1 out of 5 is HUGE compared to many other cases I've read about, considering it was only 4mm and they never took my bloods? I am now very frustrated and confused…anyone have the same results from a doctor, what did you do? What do you recommend? What were the outcomes? Just need some insight….thanks (:
