7 weeks no heart beat...any hope?

hello all....I am new to this site and hope to find some comfort out there with similar experiences....I just came back from my second ultrasound (I am 7.3 weeks prgo) ...dc did not see a heart beat, but this time he saw a fetal pole that measured 6 1/2 weeks...last week he did not see any.  He has told me that he is not optimistic at all and wanted to schedule an aspiration for next week.  He has not done any blood test on me, other than the first time to confirm my pregnancy. I have asked for a blood test and he said it was no use?? I am so confused...do I still have any hopes that this is going to be Ok?  It has taken  many months for mdh and I to get pregnant.  He was diagnosed with male infertility and we were really surprised when we got pregnant on our own...now this????  I'm hoping for the best, but can't stop thinking about the worse.... :( In the meantime I have schedule an appointment with another doctor....just in case? Please any comments or insights will help so much right now!!! Thanks!

Girls...you are just the best...like angels!! :)) This whole ordeal is just Sooooooo stressful. I have not been able to enjoy being prgo yet....even the way we found out we were prgo....i was going to a pre-op for a polyp in my uterus...and during a routine pregnancy test before surgery... ho surprise the exam was Positive!!!  I could not believe it as it was the first month we did not really TRIED...we were just having fun and I was not too concerned with my ovulation timing...specially because my dh was diagnosed with strong infertility!!!! we were supposed to start IVF in December...so this little miracle keeps going!!!! :)) What a humbling experience this is....Someone above is definitely in charge.... :)) SO keep the faith strong!!!
Hugs to all!

Yay!!!!  That is such great news!!  I bet you just ovulated a bit late.  What a difference a day or two can make. Even though this whole ordeal must have been so stressful for you, at least you got a better Dr. out of it.  I wish you an uneventful healthy pregnancy!!

Hi Amanda, Thanks so much for all the encouragement...I just got back from my apmt. with second doctor and there was a HB!!!! ALELUYA!!! :)) I am so very happy and overwhelmed with emotion...I could not believe it when I saw the little flickering...it was small, but it was there..a little miracle!!!....it measured 6 weeks, so my new doctor thinks that I probably ovulated later than usual....This new doctor took the time to listen to me and was soooooo calm, nice and patient....what a difference a doctor makes!!! :))
I will keep you girls posted...thanks again for all your support!! God Bless you all!!! :))

HI there, and welcome!!  I am so sorry you are going through such a stressful time. I will be honest with you, not seeing a heartbeat at 7 weeks is not a great sign.  There can however be many reasons for it....your dates could be off.  The equipment/tech may not be the best.  So on and so forth.  It is very very positive that there was growth between this ultrasound and the last.  I think you are wise to seek a second opinion, and please know that no matter the outcome, we are here to support you. All the best of luck to you!!!  I know firsthand how scary this can be.  Please let us know how it goes, I will keep you in my thoughts!!!

Hi there... thanks so much for your comments and support... I am having another doctor check me tomorrow....will see what he says?? the odd thing here is that it seems my baby grew from one week to another, but there is still no HB?? and my dc is certain I am 7.2 weeks and no 6.5 weeks which is what the baby measured today, (last weeks he could not even see the the fetus pole)? this is so confusing and I appreciate all the imput!!
Thanks again for your wishes and I'll promise to keep you posted...

Hello!  You have come to the right place for help and support, so welcome!  I know it can be common not to hear a heartbeat at 7or even 8wks.  My second comment is, I am glad that you are seeking another doctor and opinion.  You have every right to request any tests you deem necessary for your own peace of mind.  Please keep us posted, and best wishes for a healthy happy outcome!  Pam
