8 weeks and belly looks smaller than last week

I'm 8 weeks pregnant. Should my stomach look smaller than it did last week? The doctor didn't see the baby on the ultrasound last week. Just sac and yolk. Said I may miscarry. So I'm worried that the amaller belly means it stopped growing and I'm going to miscarry. I still feel sick at night but heard even after you miscarry you still feel pregnant for about a month. I also have a tilted uterus and read sometimes you cant see the baby if its tilted. Has anyone had these problems. I'm so terrified. I'm 37 and this is my first baby.

In my experience Dr.s always err on the side of caution and tell you about possible worse case scenarios.  I don't think they are really trying to be negative, they just have a more clinical approach and sometimes I think forget about the emotion behind this for us.

Belly being smaller is no big deal though, and no sign anything is wrong.  As happynifer said, it was just bloating and will come and go.

I wish you well on your next u/s, and will keep everything crossed for you.  Plesae let us know how you are doing.

some do, some don't.
there is a balance between giving someone false hope that everything is ok if they are worried, but some go over the top and worry you a lot when things may be just fine.
an US at 7 weeks can go either way, especially if your dates are a touch off.
by 8 weeks, you should be able to see a heartbeat, so you should definitely see progression from the last scan.
good luck to you and your little bean

most women do not show at all until 12-18 weeks pregnant.
anything before that  is just bloating, so it is normal for it to come and go.
try to relax ...when is your next US?
