Amnio Q

Me and my dh are both 39 and pregnant with twins.  Last time we did genetic u/s and did not proceed with amnio.  This time my ob tells me that genetic u/s will not be very accurate (about 80% accurate) so dh wants us to skip it alltogether and just go straight to amnio.  I would rather have heads up if smth is wrong.  Dh's reasoning is that genetic u/s provides the same info as amnio but it is less reliable, especially with twins.
My question is: does genetic u/s contain any additional information on top of chromosomal abnormalities?
Thanks!

Thank you for your feedback!!!
I think the measurement itself will put my mind at ease.

I am 12w3d with twins, and my perinatologist opted not to do any of that testing since it is inconclusive with twins. She is using the ultrasounds to make sure things are developing normally. For example, their neck measurements (1.2 cm & 1.3 cm), and three fact that their heads are developing normally as well tell her that down's syndrome is extremely unlikely.

If your babies are in twop different sacks and you have the amnio then they will have to go in twice which I would say, would increase the risk of miscarriage as well

no I dont think it does, the whole reason for the u/s at 12 ish wks is to measure the fluid behind the babies neck then its usually teamed up with blood results and your age and that gives you the risk ratio
