Hypothyroidism during pregnancy

Well I'm 19 weeks along and found out we are having a baby boy!  About a year before getting pregnant I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism that was very borderline and placed on a low dose of thyroid meds.  Since being pregnant my ob has raised my meds every month and it still hasn't  balanced out to a normal level and is always high.  Has anyone else experienced this? I'm feeling a worried

Hi,

when i was pregnant my meds were raised every month.  It is quite normal to increase the requirement during pregnancy.  I finally stopped increasing my meds at about 8 months.  If your levels are still high your doc may consider increasing by 50 mcg instead of 20 mcg for one increase.

The same for me too. I was on a really low dose and with this pregnancy I have had an increase my medication each month.  So far so good and the dr. is staying on top of it all.

Hi there,

I'm a little over 36 weeks and I have hypothryoidism too. I'm on a low dose ( .05).  I've had my tsh checked a couple times and second time it was slightly high but, OB said it was fine - "just borderline" and won't affect baby. He said the pregnancy was affecting my levels but, I didn't have to increase the dose.  I'm guessing your doctor is increasing your meds bit by bit as he monitors your levels after seeing your blood results.  It should balance out or get to "borderline" soon enough as your body is going through alot of changes. Try not to worry so much.
