Anyone had iron infusion

I have to go to hospital and have an iron transfusion on Monday. I don't like canular injections.  Has anyone had a reaction to it? They say I have to stay in an hour afterwards in case of an allergic reaction.

I had them with my first pregnancy starting at 32w (we caught it late) and while not that exciting they did wonders! I'm 16w with #2 and starting them soon. I can't wait to be full of energy again. Definitely worth the inconvenience. As far as a reaction, I was never told to stay after the infusion. I never had an issue.

Thanks Jholli it sounds like it was just what u needed. I too been having bad headaches I thought it was because of lack of sleep... I do feel dizzy but never passed out. Well I hope it will help me then.

I had one a couple of weeks ago. It's just like a drip of fluid. It is very quick. Although I didn't have a reaction, I did pass out but that was due to low iron.

It takes a good 2-3 weeks to kick in and finally at 40 weeks I am feeling full of energy and life again. I normally walk a lot and I was at the stage I couldn't get myself out of bed. I was passing out constantly and really bad headaches. Now, I am back to walking 7-10kms a day at 40 weeks pregnant. So I highly recommend the iron infusion, it is worth every last golden drop.

I haven't had one. I did have a friend who had one, and although I don't think she had a reaction, it wasn't her favorite experience. It did help, though. I hope it goes well for you!  Good luck!
