Anyone take Zoloft during pregnancy?

I went to the doctor today because I had a scare. Thought I ws dilating. Thank goodness I wasnt and all was well. Just need to up my water intake and gain weight. I have not gained anything. (well i gained 2 lbs but lost it) I have no appetite. Anyways, I have horrible anxiety and panic disorder and he wanted me to try and control it with veryy limited zanax use vs. a long term ssri. I dont want to have to take zanax 3x a week, or at all. But I had to when it got bad. So we are trying me on zoloft. Its like 50mg. A low dose. Has anyone else taken it with good results? Im scared to take the first pill :0  Ugh! Well thanks for any help you guys!

Aww I am so sorry you are having such a rough time.  I completely understand your anxiety.  You have been through a lot in a short time and an anxiety disorder to top it off...this can't be easy.  I would take the Dr's advice.  Tricia is right, weigh the risks and benefits and I think you will find it's worth any potential risk.  I mean, they are so careful what they prescribe pregnant women, so if you take as recommended I am sure all will be just fine.  Too much stress is probably the worst thing for you.  Hang in there hon, all is going to be fine!!!

I took zoloft (50 mg) for the last two months of my pregnancy with my son (and continued to take it for about three months). I had horrible post-partum depression with my daughter, and could tell it was starting with my son. My MD and I decided that the benefit outweighed the risk. My son is healthy as a horse and has the sweetest disposition ever. However, that was nine years ago. Apparently, since then, there have been more studies done on zoloft use during pregnancy. Do some research on it. It sounds like you may need the medication to make sure you take care of yourself...anxiety during pregnancy is very unhealthy for the baby. You are more likely to have an unhealthy, fussy baby (colicky). So, I guess you'd have to do like I did...weigh the risks against the benefits and go from there. Whatever you decide, good luck!
