Benadryl Question

I have to work this morning at 7 and I could not fall asleep.   I took 25 mg of benadryl at 8, one more at 9 and finally when I couldn't sleep by 11 I took 2 more!  What a night!  I feel asleep sometime after that.  I am 11 weeks pregnant and I have major insomnia, especially if I know I have to work the next morning.
I am scared to death now thats its morning that I may have done something to the baby because of taking 100 mg to get to sleep.  Is there anything else that I can do to help me sleep.  Also benadryl seems to cause me anxiety, maybe I am wrong, not sure.
If anyone has any advise on what to do please let me know.

check not only with your dr, but also with the pharmacist.  my dr approved tylenol cold meds for me but after calling 3 pharms i found out it could cause problems in the second tri with the organs.  i am NOT willing to risk that seeing as we already have issues to deal with.

i know it comes down to what mom needs to make it day to day and that is definatly something to consider, but do find out exactly what you are dealing with when it comes to the what ifs from taking it.

My doctor had approved 1 Benadryl/day for my pregnancy but you'll want to check with your own doctor to see if he is OK with that and at which dose. Be careful to take more than what's advised on the box!

I have major insomnia as well, I was using 1 Ambien/night before I got pregnant and my doctor decided I could stay on that for my whole pregnancy (Class B, will not cause malformations to the fetus): he prefers that I sleep than having contractions because of sleepless nights.

Hurry up and make an appointment with your doctor, they are approved medications that can help you with your sleep!
