Blood Glucose level of 135

Anybody out there have a blood glucose level of 135 and actually have gestational diabetes? I've read that the acceptable number is below 140 but some doctors set the cutoff at 130. My doctor apparently sets the cutoff at 130... I had a VERY hard time with the 1-hour screening (sick, weak, dizzy) and am unwilling to do the 3-hour test. What do you guys think about the 135 level? How many women with 135 actually have gestational diabetes????

BTW, if it does come down to requiring insulin, they have pens which can be used with needles so small that 1. You can hardly feel and 2. It is nearly impossible to poke yourself wrong. Your doctors will teach you how and where. With some self experimentation, i found my belly works best for me and i literally feel nothing.

I am also diabetic. This is my third diabetic pregnancy. I not only take oral metformin but insulin as well. I see an endocrinologist and work closely with my team to regulate my sugars. My goals include 90 or below a.m. fasting, below 120 one hour post meal. And no, noone is perfect. I am not restricted from eating any single particular food but being educated on counting carbs and what healthier choices to substitute is important. Good luck.

Sweetie do the best that you can. I see some of the comments and some of these women need to really stop. Watch what u eat and drink. For me I was already diabetic Before I became pregnant and it was hard for me to control my numbers. I had stop sodas and juice a long time ago. But still have problems with my numbers. My doctor wants me to wake up with 95 and nothing over 120 two hours after I eat. I have been making my morning number but after meals I sometimes fall short. NO ONE IS PERFECT. Just try your best.

I have GD myself and guess I know what I'm talking about. And I have another 26 weeks to go. Seems like in Germany they are stricter about it than in the US. But still: if you eat healthy you might be able to go without any medication.

First off simse78 if you dont like what I post dont comment on the sh** AND ARE YOU A DOCTOR.. its not that we are selfish it's just difficult for some of us things are easier said than done NOW for the most part I have done typically well and FYI I take very good care of my baby everything is well. . Second, I have done my research and got other doctors opinion and they stated my glucose is not high enough to take 5 insulin shots a day ... so LIKE I said im going to ask my doctor if I can try the pill first before taking insulin. ..I AM SPEAKING FOR MYSELF !!!

For Anderson310st u can take pills I'm going on 35wks and I take low dose glyburide it's fine. I take it once at bedtime. Ladies don't worry just listen to your doctors you want have perfect numbers all the time. The doctors office checks your meter if you do have GD so they will keep up with your numbers and adjust the way you need everyone is different. God Bless

If you have gestational diabetes your level is not allowed higher than 140 one hour after a meal. Rules for pregnant women are much stricter than for others. Additionally you can't take the pills as they are not allowed if you're pregnant. You will have to do the shots.
I don't know what's wrong with you people. We all want to have healthy babies. Why not do everything and anything for them? Eat healthy, quit sugar and smoking, switch on your brains. The world doesn't stop turning if you follow some simple rules for a few months.

My Dr's office cut off is 135. U had pcos, so I have do do the 1 hour twice. My first one it was 134. I do my next one in 2 weeks. Hopefully I will be the same.  I had to do the 3 hour with my first child because I was over by 1.

But the testing at home is not accurate enough. You need blood drawn to have an exact outcome. You have to measure one hour after a meal. The level should not be above 140. After two hours it shouldn't be higher than 120.
No sodas, no white bread, no sugar, no fried foods. No fast food.
Whole grain bread, pasta, rice. Drink tea and water.
In the morning your level should be no higher than 90. Take the big test. It's not for you but for a healthy baby. Put your big girl pants on and get it done. Smh...

Yes, me!! I'm in the exact same situation as you. My number is also 135 and I read that the cut off is 140 as well, but my clinic called me to tell me that my numbers were elevated so that I needed to take the 3 hour test and I told the nurse that there is no possible way that I can handle it if I could barely even tolerate the 1 hour test so the nurse suggested for me to check my blood glucose at home for one week which I have been doing for three days now and so far my numbers are good. It's a pain in the butt, but I'd rather do that than take that horrible test.
