I am 43 y.o. w/a 3 yr old. Last week, I had sono because of moderate bleeding that lasted just a few hours, but we saw empty gestation sac. My Reproductive Endocrinologist said might be blighted ovum or might be too soon. He measured a rather large area of blood still in uterus and put me on bedrest for almost a week. Bleeding stopped right after sono.
Today we repeated Level 2 sono and saw heartbeat (Praise God) but area of blood had only diminished slightly although I haven't bled in 6 days. Embryo measured 7 weeks 2 days which corresponds exactly w/ IUI dates. Doctor says this blood is worrisome and I'm not out of the woods yet. I tried to get more info on the blood issue and he just said that this type of blood in the uterus can be indicative of chromosomal abnormalities. I'm at increased risk, of course, because of age.
Is this blood a subchorionic hematoma? (I had those 4 years ago w/my son) Or is this something else? Where can I get more info on "blood as indicator of chromosomal problems?"
I'm still taking progesterone suppositories. Is there anything more I can do to ensure a good outcome? thx,
