A friend of mine had her daughter last September at 43w2d. Planned home birth and given clearance by her midwife to continue because mom and baby were both perfectly healthy.
I went 11 days past due, and then they induced labor. They won't let you go over 2 weeks if you have a reliable due date, because the placenta starts to deteriorate after that. Go to the hospital if you don't feel your baby moving. My baby stopped moving after the 41st week, but didn't die.
Remember that induced labor is harder than regular labor. (If you're lucky, your nurse will tell you that before they start giving you Pitocin.) I suggest avoiding an induction if you can. In my experience, it makes the contractions much more violent, versus a natural labor, which is more bearable. (But there's always an epidural if you can't handle it. It was a godsend during my induced labor!)
9 days in 2010. Was so hard.
My oldest daughter I went 15 days over with her but that was 19 years ago..this have changed now
