Confusing Dr. results

So I have now had a total of 4 very obvious positives from ept. 2 were first reponse, and 2 were clear blue easy ept.  There was absolutely no question they were positives.  DH and nurse and Dr.s office concurred.  I just got back from dr., they had me take a first morning sample and bring it in.  It came back negative.  They took blood, and I should hear either this aft. or tomorrow morning.  But of course I am now worried something is wrong.  Maybe I have had another loss and don't know it?  Medium pregnancy symptoms, mild nausea and light headaches, no bleeding or excessive cramps.  I am now 14 days past positive LH surge so probably anywhere from 12-13 days past ovulation.  Anyone have any idea?  Could the ept be more sensitive then Dr.s test?  The positives on the ept were 2 on friday, 1 sat. and 1 sun, all first morning samples?  What do you guys think?

Wishing you the best! Just for an aside, my u/s tech last week did not speak to me the whole time--even small chit chat--, refused to let me see the screen, and told me I could go without getting the doctor to tell me any of the results. Then she tried to separate my husband and I in separate waiting rooms while she got a doctor. You are so right about some techs needing to treat us as humans.

My beta was 74 at 25 po.  it more than doubled after that.  I am 11 weeks now, so far everything is good.  I don't think anyone can tell what a good number is at the beginning, it depends on when the little bean implants.  The important thing is that the number continues to go up.

Good Luck

Most techs are really great, it was just this one.  She was a nasty piece of work.  And I would never actually slug anyone, I have never hit anyone in my life.  I probably should have clarified that.  Was just venting.  Thanks for the good wishes.

Ok, I just called my Dr;s office and booked blood for tomorrow morning.  Your right, I need to put this to rest in my mind.  Looking for at least a 140.  Hopefully they get back to me tomorrow afternoon as well.  Thanks for the advice, I needed to get my courage up.

tomorrow or thursday.  I'm almost scared of the results.  I am petrified of another loss.  Plus, I need to make sure I am calm enough so that I don't slug that stupid tech that got me so upset yesterday.

I just got off the phone with my OB/GYN's nurse.  She basically said the same thing as you meli, to go in tomorrow or thursday and have them repeat the test. (It was my generalist that did the bloodwork yesterday). But she did say that 70 was a good number for being so early, and there is no borderline about it!!  Do I feel better.  I think this tech was just bitter because my HPT worked better then her Dr. office brand (whatever it was).  Anyway, nurse said no matter how anyone tries to spin it, I am pregnant.  Whooohoooo.  Now I just have to make it to the finish line!  I see my ob/gyn the 9th of May.  And so far, no spotting this time...which makes me feel so much better as well.

Thanks for all the happy messages alikat and Kelly.  You are really making me feel better.  I am so mad at that stupid tech, but so incredibly happy that they did make an effort to call me today.  One of the benefits of being in a small city I guess.  I am really really happy, and I think 70 is a great number for being so early in the pregnancy.  Not even 2 weeks past O yet, so I feel great!!  What is the saying, 3rd time is the charm?  I am not going to lose this one, I just know it!!

I had four false positives  (did you see them, they were very clear and still - false), so it does happen, but with a number of 70 you have got something going on!!!!  And when you see the #s go up on your next test, you can relax knowing all is well.

Thats what I thought.  And to put me through this by refusing to call it a positive.  Said its borderline....???  What the heck does that mean??  Either there's a bean in there or there isn't.  She even questioned what type of HTP I was using....one false positive ok, but 4??  And 2 were First Response, the other 2 were ClearBlue, all taken first sample of the day, over 3 days...friday I did it twice...lol. What the heck is wrong with these dr.s...or is this just me?  Thursday I was mad at the fertility specialist, and today at my regular dr. I just feel like too many of these guys put no thought whatsover into patients as humans as opposed to just patients...know what I mean?  I am sitting here in tears right now...this should be such a happy exciting day for me, and I feel so upset.  They want me to come for more blood work on friday, which I will do.  But this is just cruel.

Well, got a call from Dr.'s office.....beta/hcg came back at 70.  They said very low, no kidding, I am only 12-13 days past o.  They won't use the word positive, but 70 this early is a positive isn't it?  Apparantly their urine tests don't pick up that early.  From an earlier call to First Response, they said they pick it up at 25.  On the internet, it says anything over 2-25 is considered a positive.  So why is this stupid lab lady telling me its 70, and she won't use the word positive??  Now I am just ticked off again.  What do you guys think?

I hate the dr's tests....I got a million at home + but the slightest, lightest line at the dr and it took forever to come up. I know I was early but scared to death.

I think thats what happened last month.  I got a positve HPT when I tested early, then 2 days later started to bleed.  I call it a m/c, but I wondered.  No one at the Dr.s office during my follow up mentioned the word chemical pregnancy.  It upsets me they don't always tell you everything.

The weird thing about this one is 3 days in a row, I have tested positive.  At the lab, the tech told me not to worry too much, they have had trouble with their tests before. Of course I am still absolutely freaking out .  I am not going to be able to relax until I hear blood test results.

With my last pregnancy (he's almost 7 yrs old now) I tested negative a couple of times before a positive test came in....don't know why or how, but he's alive and kicking now :0)

Hi:

Unfortunately, sometimes you can have what's called a chemical pregnancy.  I've had at least 3.  Usually the preg starts to develop.  The embryo implants so you get an early positive test, then it fizzles out.  In all of my cases I tested before I was supposed to get my period, then just got it a day or two late.

That's the one crappy thing about those early tests.  If I hand't tested, I wouldn't have even known...

I hope that you are indeed preg.  Good luck.

I started bleeding two days later, a second blood test was also negative, and a home test then became negative.  I will never understand why and what happened.
