BFP @ 4 DPO

This is my doctor's official call.  Anyone think this is remotely possible?

I got my BFP on 6/25.  My HCG was 226 on 6/26 (progesterone was 14.4) and my repeat HCG was 1054 on 6/29.  At my first appoitment on 7/21 I thought I should have been 7w4d.  Because of my longer cycles, I later realized I should have been exactly 7 weeks.  The u/s measured 6w2d.

I had a followup u/s this morning, current measurement 7w1d, heart rate 162.  So everything looks fine.  However, that puts conception on 6/21.  Making my BFP @ 4 DPO, 226 HCG @ 5 DPO and 1054 @ 9 DPO.

She didn't think that was strange at all.  I'm trying to find someone who agrees with her, has a similar story or can make sense of it all.

Anyone?

I've already had 2 ultrasounds.  That's how they determined the due date, which I then calculated back to figure out the conception date.  My LMP was May 29th, which puts a due date at 3/9/10.  (I have 32 day cycles, the standard 28 day cycle gives a 3/5 date.)  The first u/s when I should have been 7 weeks measured 6w2d.  The followup yesterday dated as 7w1d.  Which is consistent with the last one.

I got my BFP on 6/25.  I had betas drawn on 6/26 and 6/29.  These are all documented facts.  As are the datings from the two ultrasounds.

The fact that the doctor said it's NOT uncommon to get a BFP 4 days after conception is where my issue comes in.  This is what the doctor said.  The HCG values are ridiculously high, which concerns me, but she doesn't think it's weird.  I've also had two u/s techs tell me there is only one in there, although they both kind of laughed off the idea that there could have been more than one.  Without having any other information, why would they just assume?

Also your hcg looks  (for the one) like an hcg reading you'd get about 15 or 16 DPO.   I bet the 6/21 was a error on your doc.  I'd go off of your LMP or wait until you get your first u/s for the due date.

I don't think it's possible for you to get a BFP 4DPO....and I'm not trying to be mean...first of all it takes the egg at least 5 to 7 days to travel thru the fallopian tubes and into the uterus.  Usually the embryo doesn't implant right away...maybe in 1 or 2 days, then it takes another couple of days for HCG to show up in your system.   So I don't think it's possible at all.  Your egg would have had to travel thru fallopian tube in at least one day and implanted immediately for this to happen.  I say maybe a miniumum of 4 days in tube.      So I think it's far fetched, but it doesn't really matter as you got a BFP and that's what counts!!!

Dating the baby back to conception doesn't exactly work (and I don't know exactly why..LOL), but the measurements are to the baby's growth, not to the conception date, which is why they are okay with it being off by a week!

It sounds like everything is going great.  Conception could have occurred earlier, but he was a late implanter..or he may have gotten off to a slow growth start. All perfectly normal and acceptable things! :)

Good luck and enjoy every second of it!! :)

It's certainly possible.  But in all honesty, you have a great ultrasound with a nice healthy heartbeat....all is well.

Dating seems to be a very unexact science.  According to my ultrasound, and taking into account that DH and I only had intercourse twice in the right time frame, I conceived 5 days after last BD.  Apparantly he has super sperm!!  lol.  It doesn't make sense, but 3 ultrasounds seem to confirm.  Don't worry and enjoy.. your baby is doing great!!

Thank you for your reply.  We've already taken into account that I ovulate on day 18 of a 32 day cycle.  Later than that just seems really absurd (although I guess not 100% impossible).  We are not having weekly u/s.  They repeated today after last week's didn't show I was as far along as expected.  My next visit isn't for another 4 weeks.

Hmmmmmm, well I'm no DR, but thats not adding up! (basic math!!!)  Maybe she's just "assuming"  that you O later & your dates are just off.
The baby is growing, & the heart beat sounds great, & thats what's important.
I do have a similar story, but mine ended in a mc @ 11 weeks :(
BUT, I'm SURE others out here have had positive experiences.

Is she having you come in for weekly US'S?  Thats what I did & would do again, just to keep a close eye.
Super good luck to you!  Keep us posted!
