Tierdness in pregnancy

I am 43 and have recently found out that I am pregnant, I am almost 14 weeks. It has come as quite a shock as I really didn't think I could have any more after my last child was born (I have 3, ages 18, 16 and 10). My daughter was born by emergency c-section and I had to have a blood transfusion. I would like to be really happy and excited and I guess I am and found the scan amazing, I really couldn't believe it but I am so worried about downs syndrome because of my age and the thought of another c-section fills me with dread. I feel absolutely fine apart from the fact that I am so tiered and feel so lazy, I just don't want to do anything. My blood tests were fine so is it just my age or maybe the shock, I feel like I need an energy boost from somewhere.
I have put on quite a lot of weight too, some of it gained before pregnancy since I gave up smoking a year ago.

Welcome & congrats ;o)  I have to say that EVERY time I have been pg, (6x's) w/the exception of one that I MC'd I got SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SOOOOOOOOOOOOO TIRED!!!! It usually stars for met about 5 weeks til I'm about 18-20 weeks.  Then I get energetic & feel great til the last few weeks, then I get lazy & pooped again.  I really don't think age is the reason, I was 26, 29, 32, 32 39, & 39.  I remember taking the LONGEST naps w/my first, I couldn't believe how sleepy I was ;)

Hope you have a great pregnancy & a smooth labor n delivery!

I've gotten very luck this week. My mom is on vacation so she has been taking my son most days...which should leave me time to clean and rest, but...I would rather post, LOL

Congrats on the pregnancy! Tiredness is very common and should ease up a little for you in the next few weeks. I'm not sure about the c-section, though since it has been 10 years they MAY let you have a VBAC. It all depends on the doctor and hospital, though, as another woman on these forum is having a hard time with that. Congrats again and have a great pregnancy!

Welcome and congratulations on your pregnancy!!  There are many of us here in our late 30's and early to mid 40's who are either pregnant or have delivered perfectly healthy babies. (I am just a few weeks shy of 41 and pregnant with a healthy baby boy.  My co-cl PamelaBee has two healthy beautiful babies, delivered at 41 and 44...or close to that anyway...Pamela??)   As for the health concerns you have around your pregnancy, the best thing to do is take it step by step and day by day.  We live in an age where there are many tests you can request if you are really concerned, and in all honesty, although we do have a slightly increased risk of Downs, it is still not all that common.  Good luck to you, and I wish you a healthy happy pregnancy!!
