Eating your placenta

Has anyone eaten their placenta after the birth of a previous baby? If yes, did you experience any post partum depression?

The only reason animals eat it is so that predators are not drawn to them and eat their offspring. I think its gross.

They are real facts. by the time you have cooked it to kill any contamination as your vagina is not a sterile environment you've cooked all the nutrients out. Also unless you plan on taking a mini fridge or at least a cooling bag with you in two hours it starts going bad. Also if you pee or poop during delivery its contaminated. And the fact that it's what  filters harmful things away from your baby it can contain bad bacteria even if it's not contaminated or stored correctly. So perhaps you should go read facts.

My sisters had their babies 3 days apart. They both ate the placenta. One had it in a smoothie in the hospital and one had it made into capsules. Both did not mention anything about it being more or less beneficial.... I am due in November and do not plan on eating mine.

I haven't eaten mine but I'm pretty sure they did some research into it and proved it doesn't actually benefit you to eat it. Also they can now make it into capsules.

Hi I just watched a program on eating your placenta. After doing tests there didn't seem much benifit .but it's a great idea that they can put it in capsules now .

I dont know anyone who's done this. My guess is, you probably dont need to since its not common practice and women have been having successful pregnancies or ages without doing it. I looked and found no evidence that eating your placenta prevents PPD.
