Ectopic Preg vs something else?

I am 40 years old....no history of abnormal menstural cycles and have had a tubal 9 years ago....about 3 weeks ago, I started my monthly cycle.  About 4 days into it, I had severe "break thru" bleeding.  I passed two large pieces of tissue.  I had severe cramping and severe bleeding for the next 4 days.  I had a pregnancy test run on me (urine and blood) both came back negative.  They did an ultrasound (I can't remember the term) but it was internal.  That was normal.  The bleeding had reduced to spotting for the next couple of days, then quit all together.  Three days later, I started bleeding again.  Each day the bleeding and cramping gets more severe.  I am now weak and dizzy, and I am having seepage from my breasts.  I felt from the beginning that it was an ectopic pregnancy, but the docs are telling me its not.  At no time have they checked my tubes.  I asked if they could see my tubes from the ultrasound and was told no.  Could this have been an ectopic pregnancy?

As far as I know, an ultrasound would show your tubes.  When checking for pregnancy, its pretty standard to check if its intrauterine or tubal. At least I think thats standard. And, even an etopic pregnancy would come back positive on your blood work for pegnancy.  But, you can always get a second opinion.  I hope you are feeling better soon.

I had an ectopic pg last year.  You pg test would have come back positive if you had an ectopic.  They never did see the pg in my tube but it was there for sure because eventually it ruptured and I had to have it removed.  They took pictures of it and it was huge!!  Like a plump hot dog.  The way they diagnose ectopic is by positive pg test and no pg in the uterus.  They don't know where it is, but they know it isn't in the uterus.

Doesn't sound like an ectopic to me.  I hope you start feeling better soon.
