how do u know if you lost your mucus plug?

I know this is such a tmi question but I really want to know how you if you lost your mucus plug. Cause for the past 3 weeks I been having discharge off n on somtimes bad and sometimes not. The other day I had a lot and it had a lil bit of blood and today there was a lot on my underwear to the point if I put a pad on it wouldn't stay cause my underwear was so wet. It looked like 5 people just blew there nose in my underwear. Sorry for such a tmi question. And I also been cramping a lot on and off and I'm already 2 and 1/2 cm dilated and 37 weeks pregnant

I knew right away I lost my plug.  it looked like a cork made of snot with some blood in it.  I did not go into labor for another 3 weeks almost.

thats definitely your mucous plug comming away, so it sound like things are starting to happen for you :)
