Possible Pregnant

Ok I have a question.  I am 39 years old and have been off the pill since March trying to get pregnant.  I had a daughter 11 years ago which took me 9 months to conceive after going off the pill.  I am occassionally experiencing "flutters or butterflies"  for the last 2 months but have had somewhat of a normal period.  My husband and I want to have another child but due to my period being so abnormal in the past I'm not sure when I ovulate.  Lately I have only been at most 3-4 days late as to when I think I should be starting my period.  What are the chances that these flutters or butterflies is actually me being pregnant with me still having my period?  I'm not totally against doing a pregnancy test but I tend to get depressed when it come back negative.  Also, should I go ahead and purchase ovulation kits?  I've never used them before and am unsure on all of this.
Thanks!

Well, when you are pregnant you don't actually have a period.  Your period is your uterean lining shedding, so its not possible. You can however have bleeding, but its different then a normal period.  If you think there is any possibility you are pregnant, do a home pregnancy test, or see your Dr. for bloodwork.  That is the only way you will know for sure. I too get a bit down when a home pregnancy test comes back negative, but its better then wondering.

I personally swear by ovulation kits.  They give you 24 to 36 hour notice that you are going to ovulate and its better to "baby dance" prior to actual ovulation taking place.  There are a lot of different brands and options on the market, and I can give you my personal opinion.  I am a huge fan of the Clearblue Easy Digital.  They are a little more expensive, but there is no mistaking a positive. They are really easy to read.  I wish you luck!
