What day is considered the first day of pregnancy?

When I hear people say "I'm xx weeks preggo."  I am confused.  What day is considered the first day of pregnancy?  The first day of LMP or the ovulation day?  Please help me.  Thank you!

Congratulations to you!!  Don't worry too much about lack of symptoms.  They will come and go, or maybe not come in at all.  Every women and every pregnancy is different.  I know it's scary when you have had a bad experience.  I too have had losses, but this time around am 21 weeks with a healthy baby boy!  If your beta's are doing what they should then that is a wonderful sign that all is well.  Good luck on your ultrasound, and keep us posted.  Congrats again on your pregnancy and I wish you a healthy and uneventful 34 weeks (that you have left to go!!).

Thank Victoria01, Heather5 and adgal for the responses!

Yeah, like what Heather said, I figured that should be the formula to figure out my "LMP" date.  If I count from the first day of LMP (the calculated one), I am now almost 6-week pregnant.  How come I still don't have any symptom?  Maybe because of my previous bad experience, I am a little too paranoid.  My beta has been growing on tract at least according to the recent 3 beta tests.  I am so anxious to see what will show up on the u/s next week.

lots of baby dust to all of us!

Yep, they start counting 40 weeks from first day of LMP (with a natural conception).  I don't know about FET, but sounds like Heather explained it well!

Yes, first day of LMP...but since you did a FET, it would be two weeks plus how-ever-many days the embryo was prior transfer. So let's say the embies were frozen on day 6, then you take your transfer date and subtract 6 (to find when ovulation would have occurred had it been a natural cycle), and then subtract another 14 days (to find what would have been your LMP). Hope that makes sense...
