Low HCG level at 6-7 weeks, any chance of having a healthy pregnancy

on June 22, I had a positive blood pregnancy result (HCG 23). My LMP was on 5/23/2010 which would mean that I'm 7 weeks pregnant.
I repeated the HCG test on 7/6, it was 748, then again on 7/8, HCG increased to 822 but didn't double appropriately. I had an ultrasound done on 7/8 which didn't show a gestational sac. I had another ultrasound done today, still no sac, Doctor ruled out ectopic and said that my uterus lining was very thick. I'm still waiting for HCG results from today's blood work. I have no cramping, spotting or bleeding and minor pregnancy symptoms (tender breast, heartburn, headaches). Is there a chance that I could have a healthy pregnancy or is this a chemical pregnancy? Thanks in advance for your feedback and advice

I'm sorry your going through such a difficult time.  I will be honest with you, this does not look overly promising right now.  Typically the HCG levels will double every 48 hours or so until about 1200, then the doubling time starts to slow.  That and the fact that nothing was seen on a 7 week ultrasound is not a good sign. Typically at this point a sac should be seen and more often then not a heartbeat (although that can vary).  It is very possible that your body has not realized this yet and therefor is not yet bleeding.  This is called a missed miscarriage and I had one as well.  I am not a Dr., and of course you should be going by what he/she said.  I hope I am not coming across as negative, I am just trying to be honest with you.  I do wish you well and hope I am wrong.  Please take care, I know the not knowing is very very difficult.

Thanks for your honest answer- you're definitely not coming across as negative. I just got the results back today and HCG dropped from 822 to 702. The nurse told me to be prepared for possible cramping and bleeding. I actually can't wait for the bleeding to start again so we can start TTc'ing again.
