I tested positive for it I'm being induced Monday Oct.12 so it's all controlled I'll be 39 weeks 3 days. I'm not taking any chances even though no one else seems to be to concerned about it. I feel like this is the best thing to do to insure my little girl is born healthy.
Natural Remedies for GBS
GBS certainly has the potential to be serious and shouldn’t be ignored, but antibiotics carry their own risks and can cause problems as well. Especially with all the emerging research about the transfer of gut flora and immunity from mother to baby during delivery, it would definitely be preferable not to take antibiotics if it can be avoided.
The good news is, at least in my case, GBS can be gotten rid of or prevented with natural remedies.
As GBS occurs naturally in the digestive track for some people, I felt it was important to treat the digestive track as a whole when working to eliminate GBS instead of just focusing on the genital area. A probiotic rich diet is beneficial for overall health, and I also found it helpful in getting rid of GBS.
When researching, I found the following advice for treating/preventing GBS:
Eating a probiotic rich diet including things like Kombucha, Water Kefir, Yogurt, Sauerkraut and other fermented foods to help create a healthy gut environment.
Taking a probiotic supplement and using it vaginally (I used this one orally daily and vaginally every day or two).
Consuming garlic capsules or raw garlic cloves daily.
Consuming Coconut Oil for its naturally antiviral properties.
Using plain organic yogurt vaginally to help balance bacteria.
Taking Vitamin C daily.
Using a Chlorhexidine rinse vaginally before and during labor. (This is the usual protocol)
Consuming raw apple cider vinegar daily and using it as a diluted rinse.
good to the antibiotics..however best to get tested early and i have found some natural remedies to help before labour..
Well i have never been tested for GBS...matter of fact did not know what it was until i Google it. However although it may not seem serious to some when one take antibiotics.. one must remember that not every woman body or newborn react to
OMG blonde moment sorry I relist now I'm such a ditz sorry
What is gbs ? This is my 3rd and I've never heard of it I'm from the uk maybe we don't test for it ?
I tested positive. They are going to give me antibiotics as soon as I get to hospital to protect baby.
As long as you receive antibiotics during labor your baby should be fine. If you do not get the antibiotics for whatever reason the pediatrician and nurses will keep a close eye on baby and possibly run tests to make sure s/he is ok. Death from gbs is extremely rare.
I don't want to scare you but I lost my daughter in November 14 to GBS but I was totally unaware I had it
Knowing is a good thing as soon as your labour starts get to hospital for antibiotics
I hate that this is brushed aside and nobody takes it serious
Good luck
I did. They gave me antibiotics during labor. My daughter was a little jaundice the 1st week but it cleared up and now she is a healthy 3 month old. Just make sure you go to the hospital early so they can start antibiotics early. It's really nothing to worry about.
It's very rare that the baby will get sick because of the antibiotics administered during labour and delivery.
