Gestational diabetes? ?

OK so I'm 30 weeks and 4 days I got my glucose test 4 weeks ago everything was fine but today I felt weak and dizzy and shaky so I'm like that's weird never felt that and I had just eaten 2 hours ago... so I went to my neighbors who has had gestational diabetes to check my sugar and it was 172 I know that's not normal but could I be developing it now and not 4 weeks ago I don't get it.. Has this happen to anyone?

Actually 2 hours after eating your sugar should be 120 or less. 172 is high, but not extremely high.

Remember any foods (or drinks) with sugar and/or carbs raise or spike your blood sugar. For pasta or bread switch too whole grain; while whole grain goes have carbs, those carbs do not make your sugar spike like the enriched or white pasta does.

It might be a good idea to kinda monitor your sugar for a few days, 1 fasting in the am and then a time or two (2 hours) after u eat. If u get consistent high readings, I would talk to ur doctor about it. Fasting sugars should be under 90. Two hours after u eat should be under 120.

Sugar is managable, but can be hard and foods are tempting. I have type 2 diabetes, not gd, but with being pregnant I have to watch it even more.

Yep I found out at 18 weeks I had gestational diabetes it can come on any time 172 is really high...it should usually never be higher than 140...did u have alot of sweet stuff to eat?? Or drink? Let ur Dr know so they can check but its pretty easy to control.. No sweets or soda and try to stay away from white pasta.. Rice etc...lots of veggies!!
