Cerclage? Help

Hi everyone, I know it's been awhile, but the first trimester was a doozy with all the morning sickness and what not. Now however, the doctor is considering performing a cerclage due to the miscarriage I had in November. He says right now I don't need it cause everything looks good but would perform as a precautionary measure. The decision is mine and dont know what to do. Having the cerclage and not having it both runs its risks. Can anyone give me any insights, what do you guys think?

I agree with Pamala, since it is a low risk procedure and your dr thinks it necessary I would really consider it. Good luck!

During my first pregnancy I read anything and everything that had to do with having a baby, or any complications along the way.  I remember reading about incompetent cervix and was worried sick it would happen to me.  My OB at the time would say to me, ok so what have you learned about pregnancy this time and what are your questions?  I brought up incompetent cervix to him, and thankfully it wasn't an issue of concern pertaining to my pregnancy.  From what I know about the cerclage procedure, it is recommended if you had a previous miscarriage(s) while in your 2nd trimester, and that it should be performed at 12-14wks.  I think once you have the procedure done, that is not a one time fix, meaning, if you plan to have future pregnancies, you will need to have the cerclage performed each time.  It appears to be a common and very low risk procedure, so if it were me, I would probably consider having it done. Best of luck, and keep us posted!
