I had it with my second child and they didn't have enough time to treat me before delivery. Needless to say 2 days after we were released my baby stopped breathing we called an ambulance and they said she was fine. After they left she did it again this time we insisted she go to the hospital after a few days at children's hospital they found out she had group b strep in her kidneys if we had waited too much longer it would have spread to her brain and caused serious damage.
I was GBS positive with my last baby. I was way too far along by the time I got into a room, so no antibiotics were administered. My water didnt break until the last few minutes, which I believe would make a big difference. They kept me and baby 48 hours to watch him. He had no complications. I won't worry about it this time around, but trust the doctors to do what's necessary.
That said, I know a lady who was GBS positive without knowing it and had a very sad outcome. It's nothing to fool around with, but don't worry about it. Be glad your doctor knows ahead of time and can deal appropriately with it.
There is nothing u can do but your doctor may schedule a induction so u can get ur antibiotics in time i had it with 3 of my pregnancy and my third child came so fast i didnt have time to get the antibiotics and she is fine not a problem to this day she is 3
