HCG dropping

I am about 4 weeks along - very surprised because I am 45 and thought I was done. My first blood test on Monday was 61 and today it was 44. My doctor's asst asked if I was bleeding and I'm not at all. I do feel abdominal pressure, more on the right side, but not cramping or pain. what do you think? waiting for the doctor's call is killing me. what are the probable next steps?

I am so sorry, but as the others said, a drop in HCG is usually not a good sign.  I have heard of women having their HCG's dip, then start to rise again in very early pregnancy so there is always hope.  When are you having your blood work drawn again?

I know its hard right now and also very scary.  Please let us know how your are doing.

Take care.

How are you doing with this pregnancy?  I am 45 also and trying to get pregnant with a second child.  But, my AMH level is low and my fertility doctor doesn't think I have a good chance without donor eggs.  Did you get pregnant on your own?  Do you know what your AMH level was before you got pregnant?  Are you doing acupunture or anything to help your situation?

I'm sorry. I don't know if you were actively trying to conceive but it looks like this one is not going to be viable. A plus though, if you are trying it is encouraging that you got pregnant on your own.  So sorry once again, I've been there twice.

Usually a drop in HCG levels means you will be miscarring the pregnancy.  Your HCG numbers should double every 72 hours and if they begin to drop that is not a good sign.  Sorry things are not working out for you.  BEst of luck.
