Dont worry about first 4 weeks. Your baby should be fine :)
Its wierd that they took u off without putting u on something else. Was she trying to get baseline to see how it is with no meds?
I think Labetalol is the go-to BP med. Maybe nefedipine. My was really bad but stabilized during this pregnancy without meds.
Yes of course you still need to control your blood pressure during your pregnancy. Otherwise it could get very dangerous for you and baby.
Your ob should have said you can't take the other medicine and either prescribe you another one that day or tell you to contact you primary care doc immediately for a new medication for it.
I have high blood pressure. When I was pregnant with my first son over 5 years ago they put me on Labetalol. My blood pressure was actually better while I was pregnant. I have been on it ever since and am still on it during this pregnancy. They say there are just a few BP meds that are ok during pregnancy. Ask ur doctor about labetalol. U have to be on something obviously you can't go without that's not safe for you or the baby. Good luck to you.
Thank you for replying. I am just worried about it. I will see my Gyn this week Meanwhile, I am controlling my sodium intake, and doing some light exercises And trying not to stress a lot. Thanks for the advice!
I had gestational hypertension and then severe preeclamplsia with my first and preeclamplsia with this one. Your dr will be keeping an eye on you and probably already considers you high risk (just meaning you need extra monitoring). I've been on labetalol both pregnancies. I was told there are only two bp meds safe where I am during pregnancy and the other one makea me sick. Talk to your dr about your concerns and his plan for you.
I have PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension) & also had it with my previous pregnancy. I'm taking Methyldopa & it works very well at keeping my bp under control. Did your doctor suggest another medicine or did s/he just tell you to stop your previous med? Keeping your bp at a normal level is essential during pregnancy because higher pressure can lead to preeclampsia or even scarier, eclampsia which can cause seizures, coma, or even death. Please ask your dr if there is a med you can be prescribed & if they say no, I'd recommend finding another dr because there are options for pregnant women with high bp. Good luck, hope you have a happy, healthy pregnancy!!!
