Visit the Fetal Medicaine DR tomorrow.. very nervous

My Drs office schedule a Fetal medicine drs appointment.  I almost forgot it was tomorrow..  Now I'm nervous.  These are the Drs I will see in addition to my normal obgyn after I conceive.. I don't know what to expect or even what to ask..  any advise would be appreciated..

Hmmm, why did your OB refer you in the first place?  I do know that all women over the age of 35 are considered "high risk" simply because of the age factor.  Additionally, in my opinion, and I'm no doctor, but your losing a baby prior due to a tear in your placenta warrants being high risk to me.  Also, NOT being told you had a tear in your placenta makes me highly suspicious that you are with the wrong group of doctors.  I would have demanded better explanation and care for that error!   You really need to be proactive with this, and request the special care that you are entitled to.  You can request to see a perinatologist, if this one will not treat you, find one that will! pkay just came back from the fetal medicine dr.  Very upset.  Apparently he won;t consider me high risk at all ( which is good)..  I won;t see his office unless I need any type of testing.  I'm upset that apparently the Wednesday before I lost Cooper I had an ultrasound,  where they told me the sex of the baby.  I remembered being sooo  happy.  On that ultrasound report it said that I had a tear in the placenta,,  I was NEVER told...  He said it probably wouldn't of made a difference.  If I would of known,  I would not of been moving furniture and out shopping for all the little boys clothes that I later had to return.  I am so upset..  If I would of known I would of been prepared,  I would of done everything I could of to make it okay for him,  my 10 year old son would not of had to see me riding away in an ambulance..  I can;t type anymore I can;t see through my tears..

Hello!  They are called Perinatologists, and you will probably wish they were your doctor the remainder of your pregnancy...don't get me wrong, I loved my OB, but I really enjoyed my visits to our perinatologist.  They will do a more detailed u/s, show you measurements of your baby, and will better answer more detailed questions you may have. They will also let you know if they detect any problems (markers) signs of abnormalities...but remember, even if they detect 1 or 2 markers, your baby can be 100% fine...they are also better at judging whether or not you are a likely candidate for an amnio.  You'll also have to go with a full bladder Ugh!! I always hated that...but try to relax, and let us know how it goes!
