Any one else scared to death of labor?

I go back and forth daily about how I feel.. somedays I am so ready to have this baby because Im so tired of being pregnant but then days like today I'm seriously freaked out about labor.. This is my first pregnancy and I signed up for birthing classed but dont start til may...   Im just terrified of the pain, of something going wrong of just everything. so if anyone has any experiences that could help me out.. I just need an idea of what to expect from someone other than my ob (who is a man) somehow I dont think he can fully tell me how it feels ..lol...

This will be my second (16.1 weeks) and I'm scared too.( It might help if I quit watching all those baby delivery shows on TV lol.) With my first I was induced a week after my due date. They had me go in the night before and put some stuff on my cervix to try to get it to soften. Then the nurses came in and out all night if they weren't laughin and carrying on in the hallway(ugh). In the morning(7am) the Dr. broke the other girls water first and she screamed like CRAZY and had me scared to death! but it wasn't bad at all. I had back labor and made it til 4pm and asked for a epidural.(or maybe begged) I was ready to push at about 7pm pushed a few times and I stopped having contractions all together (wha?? I never saw that on " a baby story") so I had to try to push her out with my body not helping. She was born at 7:20 with help from the vacuum (I was so scared of that!) and is now almost 5yrs (and outside blowing bubbles with her cat on the rock wall in front of the window.) and I'm ready to "take one for the team" and do it one more time.......Just try to remind yourself it's only for a few hours.... Women have been doing it for 1000's of years ...and your Dr's know what they are doing and will try to do what is best for both of you......Good Luck and smooth easy deliverys to us all!

It's not that bad..haha yeah I remember everyone telling me this too that YES it does hurt but you'll want to do it again...well for the most part some women do...I do..not right away but I hope not to get induced.. I think that was the most difficult part of it all.. I am in labour for 5 hours until i got my epidural...2 hours later i was fully dilated and 1120 i began "small pushes" 1140 to the delivery room we went and 1146 baby Cameron was born...He is now 7 mos old and I miss the whole experience.. It was amazing and it's true you forget about it minus the stitching down there(if you tear)...I think that hurt after reminding me of what just happened and 7 mos later it still hurts lol..mostly while on my period...It well worth it...

good luck to you..you will do fine...

This was my first also. Honestly the labor was a breeze. I used an epidural.  The hardest part about the labor was they had to check your blood pressure every 15 minutes and that kept me up all night long.  For me the HARD part was the delivery but I think they started me pushing way too early.  As soon as I was 10 cm we started pushing and it took 2 hours.  In the end the urge to push was really strong but in the beginning it wasn't.  I don't think I should have started to push until the urge became strong.  They try to fit your delivery into their schedule and often it isnt' the best thing. They try to rush things a long.

Good luck to you.

I wish I had a chance to deliver normal...I was in labor for quite a few hours till the drs decided to have a urgent c-section. i am pregant again about 6 weeks and I will ask the dr if I can have normal after a c section...but obviously with an epdural!
I m too much of a chicken to do this without some chimical help.

I don't remember it being painful at all, but then again I took all the drugs I could get I am such a wimp!  After my epidural, I slept through most of my labor.  It was awesome.

Labor= pain...sorry, there is no way around it unless your go the epidural route. I have done it both ways. First was an epidural that I asked for as soon as I got to the hospital, lol! My second son I wanted to try it natraul.....it really wasnt that bad:) As long as I wasnt in that bed I was fine! I walked alot and that helped and when ever a contraction hit my hubby rubed my lower back while I rocked or girated my hips while leaning against a wall. Every one deals with pain diffrently...remember that you can always change your mind and ask for drugs. Just remember that once your little one is born you will forget about all the pain:) IT IS WORTH IT:)
One thing nobody ever told me with me first was how sore your bottom would be for awhile afterward..................

I just gave birth on 4/2 and let me tell you I was also scared to death!  The 45 minutes that I didn't have the epidural...well I'm not going to lie...they were the worst 45 minutes ever...I've never felt pain like that...but then the epidural was given and the remaining 5 hours was nothing...It was actually fun once I couldn't feel any pain!!!  You will be fine...you will forget about those 45 mintues as soon as the pain stops :-)

I am currently pregnant.. again.. which is wonderful.. this will be my eighth.... its perfectly normal to be worried about labor.. delivery.. and yeah.... oh yeah.. the pain.  with zane.. my labor was awesome.. although i had no pain medication.. no epidural.. i felt totally relaxed.. was quiet from 7 cms's to fully dilated.. and pushed him out with little vocalization..

labor hurts.. but.. its one of the most amazing things you will ever have the joy to go through... the second you see your baby.. all that pain is forgotten.. and you would do it over in a heartbeat.. it gives you such a feeling of accomplishment..

the more apprehensive and scared you are.. the harder things could be ... although some worry is perfectly normal.. try your best .. to not over worry.

yeah i know.. this is my eighth.. and im scared all over again..lol.. you will be just fine i am sure.. youll see! you wont have time to worry!

Your going to be OK! I don't want to brag, but I had three babies and all were born natural. Thats Right, No Epidural!  It can be done. But i wouldn't recommend it for everybody. My advice is to stay as calm as you can and tell everybody that remains in the delivery room to keep their mouths closed (Please).  A quiet room is more relaxing than kaus. If you need to get an epidural, don't feel bad. I have heard that they are amazing. I plan on having one more baby, and I will do it natural again. The pain does go away like melimeli said, You forget the pain as soon as you hold your precouis little angel in your arms. Good Luck!

I'm on my 3 pregnancy and I'm much more worried about the pregnancy than the labor.
I don't remember it being that painful. I told my husband 5 minutes after my first was born that I wanted to do it again! Just be sure and get an epidural. It will be one of the happiest moments in you life.

Try not to fret too much about labor...highly unlikely, I know.  I think labor was one of the best parts of the whole pregnancy experience.  Yep, somebody's gonna think I'm nuts, but it's true.  Yes it hurt like the DEVIL...before the epidural...but the feeling afterwards is amazing!  It's the biggest feeling of "Ahhhhh...look what I did" that you'll probably every have in your life.  If I had to give you the worst part of it I'd have to say the enema before!!  EWWW!!  Other than that, I can't wait to do it again!!  Good luck!

truth or lies?  what do you want? haha... no really it is not that bad... Now don't get me wrong it is a pain like no other you will have in your life but really 10minutes after birth it is done...you forget the pain... Now I would definitely go with an epidural... the man that created that should be sainted...  It hurts real bad but doesn't feel like you are dying or anything...   You will be fine...
