I want a healthy child

I was in two auto accidents and have problems with my neck which I have to take vicodin everyday.....I'm going to be married in less than two weeks and want to have another baby starting asap. If I get pregnant, I will not use the drugs(of course) but I am worried how long does a person have to clean their system out before hand and if I do have to take the occasional pill will that harm my baby?

I too have a big, big issue w/my neck area & I agree w/jill03, you need to have a preconception appt.  That's what I did & I learned so much from all of the drs we consulted with - good luck to you!

Be sure to check with your doc and ask what "catagory or class" Vicodin is in. Your OB/Gyn can tell you exactly what drugs are safe and which ones are not.  Also, since you want to have a baby right away it would be a good idea to make a "pre-conception" appointment to dicuss your concerns. You should also start taking prenatal vitamins even before you become pregant.  Good luck and congrats on the upcoming wedding!

Ask your MD about this. Look into alternative medicine as well, maybe chiropractic or acupuncture ( chiro. worked well for me). I believe Vicodin is ok, but especially as the baby gets bigger and puts more stress on your body, you will need to address the pain issue.
