Is is normal?

Ok so I'm almost at the end of my first trimester and to me I look huge......and everyone can definatly tell I'm pregnant.  But I'm still not gaining any weight.  I'm kinda worried because a book that my OB gave me told me that with twins you should gain most of your weight early since twins are usually born in the 32-34 week range.  But I've lost weight....I lost 4 lbs. and then gained only 1 lb.  Is this ok?

You know, I didn't gain much during the first trimester - maybe 4-5 pounds.  Now I'm packing on about a pound a week.  I wouldn't worry about it.

Don't worry.  Everyone is different and believe me (being preg. w/ twins myself)...it WILL come!  I know Dr's tell you w/ twins to gain more early on but thats not always possible.  Sickness and the feeling of being so bloated and full that you can't eat will all play a part in that.  I still go thru phases where I don't eat much for a while then I feel really hungry for 4 days.  I have a friend w/ 4 yr old twins that believe it or not lost 40 lbs while pregnant b/c she was SO sick throughout the entire pregnancy.  The babies were born healthy and no nicu for them.  Now I would not recommend that plan at all but its still early and as long as the babies are healthy and growing I wouldnt worry too much.  Just try to eat small meals and snacks thru the day if possible but make the calories count...healthy good stuff...not junk!  Good Luck!

i am positive you have nothing to worry about. i think i am a little ahead of you and have ony one inside of me. i have lost close to 15 pounds already due to nausea and vomitting. the same thing happenened to me when i was pregnant a few years ago with my son. my ob assures me not to worry that the baby pulls all it vitamins and nutrients from our body...not so much what we take in food wise. i wouldnt worry...i am sure the little twins are very healthy and fine. consider your self blessed for your weight not rising too fast. and as time goes on...dont worry the numbers will go up!

Hey Brandi,

I don't think you have anything to worry about as long as those two lil babies are doing well and growing like they should. I'm 24w3d and I am HUGE but haven't gained any, infact lost 5 lbs in the beginning and haven't gained it back yet. (knock on wood)! Brayden is doing fine so neither me nor my doctor are worried about it. Just go with what your doctor says and if your lil ones seem to be having problems growing then maybe something can be done.
