question about the mucus plug..

Im 38 weeks with my second baby. Its been 6 years since my first child and I can't remember the experience I had when I lost my mucus plug during my first pregnancy. I do remember there being blood the first time, however during this pregnancy I have had quite a bit of discharge off and on during the last few days, but no blood. Is it possible to pass the mucus plug without blood? Please let me know what you have experienced. Thanks in advance.

Well good luck to you! Maybe you'll get your wish. My friend just had her baby girl one day after her sons first birthday. Another friend did the same thing just one year ago. This is my first and I'm due on the 25th so I'm hoping I don't go past that day or at least not too long after.

Thank you for your response. I noticed the discharge for the first time this past Sunday and a lil yesterday and today. It didn't click in my head that it could be my mucus plug until my sister mentioned it. I was waiting to actually see blood, but my sister said its possible to not have any blood. Im due on the 30th and I was hoping to have my baby at least a week early, trying to avoid having this lil one on my sons bday which is on the 28th! Lol

I just asked my midwife this today. She said that some people pass mucus all at once and some a little at a time. Some with blood and some without. I asked because for almost a week now I've been having clear eggwhite mucus a few times a day when I wipe. It's normal and it's just your body getting ready she says.
