For This Child I Prayed........

I am so excited to be back here and actually can't believe that I have made it to this point!  I just turned 42.  I had an ectopic pregnancy in July 2008 which required 3 surgeries and eventual left tube and ovary removal after the Methotrexate failed to do the job.  I had a miscarriage on 3-17-09 and another on 11-22-09.  To add to the absolutely horrific 2 years that I was having, I was diagnosed with a melanoma in situ on my neck on 12-18-09 and had to have surgery for that 3 days before Christmas.  Thankfully the cancer was localized/Stage 0 with no chance of spread-but what a terrifying experience!  The oncologist feels that the Methotrexate from the ectopic could have lowered my immunity to the point that the melanoma started to develop-but who really knows?

After lots of prayer for the majority of 2010, my husband and I decided to explore adoption AND try to pregnant beginning in August 2010.  Guess what?  Not only did we get accepted by the agency, but I got pregnant again the very first month!  I feel SOOOO blessed.  I am now 12 weeks, and everything is going very well-save for wicked nausea that seems to last all day long!  I have seen my baby 3 times and heard a wonderfully strong heartbeat each and every time.  :O)

I really feel that God's plan is now in place-on His terms.  The fear that I experienced after the melanoma has now been replaced with extreme gratitude that I caught the condition early.  The heartbreak and frustration that I felt after my 3 pregnancy losses has now been replaced with a peaceful belief that my body was not healthy due to the melanoma.  Am I summing it all up too neatly?  Perhaps, but it has taken me so long to get to this point that I am OK with the simplicity of my current feelings.

I am going to have a Level II ultrasound but am not certain that I will do anything else to screen for possible genetic defects.  I know this is a highly personal choice, and I am respectful of all decisions made in this regard.  I just know that-as long as it took me to get to this point-I have faith that I am right where I am supposed to be and that my baby is exactly the one that God wants me to have.

I just wanted to say HI and let you know that I am excited to be here.  I will try to be an active member and wish everyone many blessings on this journey!  XO

WOW, OMG, I'm sitting at my desk fighting back the tears.   I'm so happy for you, what an incredible journey.   I'm 43 and finally pregnant myself after a long and dark journey with 2 m/c's.   I'm almost 15 weeks now and feel like you, just so absolutely blessed to have this miracle inside of me and doing well.       When I first got pregnant, I had a dream about this baby....I could feel him and smell him and I knew his name and that he would be just fine.    I remember vividly a thought that told me that this baby was going to be a fighter.   The name was one that I'd never heard of before, but we really love it.

I think the dream was to let me know that everything was going to be perfect and not to worry.    Tests confirmed that it was a boy and that he was just as I knew in my heart...perfect.    We believe that God has named the baby for us.   I researched the name on babynames.com and believe it or not, the name means "fighter".

There are moments in life where you just know you have been touched by God and granted a miracle.

Best wishes to you for a wonderful pregnancy.    You truly are an amazing woman

I was touched reading your message. Here is a prayer that I loved saying while I was pregnant. I wish you all the best.

My Lord!  My Lord!  I praise Thee and I thank Thee for that whereby Thou hast favored Thine humble maidservant, Thy slave beseeching and supplicating Thee, because Thou hast verily guided her unto Thine obvious Kingdom and caused her to hear Thine exalted Call in the contingent world and to behold Thy Signs which prove the appearance of Thy victorious reign over all things.

O my Lord, I dedicate that which is in my womb unto Thee.  Then cause it to be a praiseworthy child in Thy kingdom and a fortunate one by Thy favor and Thy generosity; to develop and to grow up under the charge of Thine education.  Verily, Thou art the Gracious!  Verily, Thou art the Lord of Great Favor!

Congratulations!  Are you still planning to move forward with adoption as well?  I have been trying to convince my husband to adopt for years, but he won't do it and it breaks my heart.  I'm so jealous of everyone who adopts!
