Itchy body

Yesterday I went for an Ultrasound (for the 5th time) As usual they asked me for any change or new symptom. I told the sonogrammer about the struggle I had some nights to sleep due to my itchy body.  Some nights I'm fine but other not. I thought it could be something I eat that may cause that. Even putting my eyeliner is causing me itchy eyelids and where I used the eyeliner is getting swollen. I never was alergic to my make up before. Now I'm 28 weeks and this start happening. The sonogrammer told the Dr. and he told me that everything looks good with the baby, normal growth but that I have to go the hospital right away to get a blood test done and speak with a doctor there. Once I got there I got a blood work done and the doctor talk to me about what could cause the itchy body. From alergies to laundry detergents, soap and creams to Cholestasis of Pregnancy. Has anyone had this problem in their pregnancy?

I'm SO itchy too! I found this info on OC (obstetric homeostasis), and on Prurigo that sound very similar. I tried to post the link here but it wouldn't let me. So Google those.

I have cholestasis of pregnancy I just found out yesterday. Went to my normal OB appointment and told my doctor how I had been itching everywhere for a couple days and she sent me to L&D I didn't think nothing of it but turns out it's cholestasis so I will be getting induced on December 1st and until then have to have NSTs every week

I had it really bad for about three weeks. Someone suggested taking a oatmeal bath sounds funny but you can buy it at CVS or walgreens that helped me alot or just taking a warm bath in general and lotion worked to for me . I know how you feel I couldn't sleep either it was one of the worst parts in pregnancy for a while lol

I had the same problem with my first pregnancy. I was SO itchy all over and constant scratching that I couldn't even sleep at all. My doctor suggested that I take oatmeal baths. So I went to Wal-Mart and got some Aveeno oatmeal packets that are made specifically for itchy skin. I bought a box of it and it has little packets in it and you just dump them in your warm bath and sit in it. It was a lifesaver! I hope this works for you ladies. You can find it in the beauty section. I still have some of the packets too. Lol but thank God I'm not itchy this time around. God bless.

I was very itchy but luckily it's seemed to calm down. I take a shower in the morning and scrub with dry skin soap. I then take another right before bed and use the same soap. I don't use lotions because everything I have tried makes me itchy when it dries. The backs of my knees were the worst and I ended up getting stretch marks there!!! Good luck!

SD_CALI, You should mentioned to your Dr. Just like I did. They will sent you right away to the hospital to get your blood work done. They just have to make sure is not Cholestasis. I don't know yet what it might be causing it. I have to call tomorrow 11/3/14 to find out about my results. Dr. Explained to me what cholestasis means but I did my research online and I'm sharing this link with you. .http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/cholestasis-of-pregnancy/basics/causes/con-20032985

Thanks Ladies! I always use lotions for dry skin. Even my bodywash is for dry skin. The itchy is not only my belly but everywhere mostly on my legs. I even thought I had bedbugs but is not the case either. Like I said this only happens sometimes not all the time. It's just bother just when I need to sleep. :(

Ive had itchy belly but i think it was just from skin stretching from growing belly. I used lots ot lotion, covered my skin with a damp towel and distracted myself for awhile. If i had to itch it was as gentle as possible, usually through clothing or with the palms of my hand vs using my fingernails. I hope it dosnt get worse!

Hi Milly. May i suggust a ladel for the itching. As it stops the itich and does not mark lol. I have been lucky so far i have had only one night of relentless itiching. My mum itched so bad during her pregnancy they thought she had fell in a rose bush as she was covered in scratches. All doc sugggest is periton. But if itching is mostly hands and feet then u need to see the doc. Best wishes kellyx
