I need some opinions Pls

I would love some input pls . I am 47 years old to be 48 in March. I have not been on birth control for over a year i took depro provera shot for only one year. So i have not had a normal period for two years. I though by now being off birth control for a year i would have regulated by now. I am in a relationship with  a 38 year old for four years, we have had several occasions recently of unprotected "encounters" i dont know whether to rush out and take the day after pill or just wait it out. Im terrified as it didnt take long to become pregnant i have a 22 and 27 year old but i was so young then too.Anyone have advice should i rush out and buy a pregnancy test or wait it out? Im scared i also recently went to the weight dr to remove a few unwanted pounds and im afraid to take my rx as if for some freaky reason i would have conceived dont want to injure it. I know its slim chances, but freak happenings do occur should i worry? Someone my age pls give some input! Thanks guys

Not to scare you, but I my cousin was in the same boat and he is now three. I would take a test be sure. Also he is cute as a button, but unexpected. He was concieved in the first thirty days after the last shot. She had no clue.

Hi there.  I am a bit younger then you but I might be able to help a little.  Conceiving naturally in our late 40's is not very common.  Even if your cycles were very regular, it is not the norm. Seeings how yours are still not regular, it is possible you have entered perimneopause. So chances are it's fine.

That being said, it can happen, so I would wait until 2 weeks after your last unprotected encounter and try a home pregnancy test then.  Another alternative, especially if you are concerned about a prescribed medication is to have your Dr. run blood work.  It would show in a blood test prior to urine sample.  But again, it would have to be a ways past last unprotected encounter to be certain.

Good luck to you!
