7 wk heartbeat?

I thought my nurse told me that when we have our 7 week ultrasound we would be able to hear the baby's heartbeat. Since then, I have read that you usually can't hear it until weeks 9-12. Does anyone know if we should be able to hear it this early?

Hi Stillwaiting,

With my first DD (IVF) we heard and saw her heartbeat via transvaginal U/S. I go in on Tuesday for this butter bean's first U/S. I can't wait to hear how yours goes. Keep me posted! I am happy I found you over here on this forum, i just joined from the Fertility forum.

Take care,
jastinker

Hi:

I know how stressful this is.  My RE at Stanford claims you should see a hb at 6 1/2 weeks.  My OB says by 8.  I think it depends a lot on the equipment, too.

Good luck to you.  Please keep us posted.

Depends on how you're saying HEAR it?  On the vaginal U/S, yes you could probably hear it on their machine. At home on a doppler, probably after 10 weeks. I didn't hear mine until 11 1/2 with this baby.
