Today is my 2nd day of retrieval and went for the transfer and I only have 3 embryos 1 is 7 cell, but it's moving fast and RE thinks it wont make it the other 2 are only 4 cell and both look fragmented. I decided to wait until tomorrow to see how they do and if they survive and if the 2 manage to divide into 6 by tomorow then I will take my chance. My first ivf I had 5 embryos 6 and 8 cells and didn't get pregnant. Who knows what happend this time around. They did change my meds, they gave me menopur this time instead of luveris and the dose of gonal f was lower this time, but my cycle went really fast. I'm prayig my embies survive for tomorrow and god grants me a miracle! Thank you so much!!
I have read that your highest FSH is what you are dealing with. However, I had an FSH of 12.9. I'm 37 now and 25 weeks pregnant with an IVF FET pregnancy on the first try. I have a 5 yr old son too that I had when I was 31 with no issues. I had 4 losses after my son. I got pregnant easily despite an FSH of 12.9 but kept losing early on. I do carry 1 copy of the MTHFR mutation, other than that no genetic issues came up on the work up. After the 4 losses, we decided to proceed with IVF with the added chromosomal tests on the day 5 blasts, called CCS testing. They grow the embryos to day 5 blasts then take several cells from the outer layer and send them to a lab for analysis of all 23 chromosomal pairs (rather than just PGD testing on day 3 of only a few chromosomes in traditional IVF). After the day 5 biopsy, they vitrify the embyos same day until the results are back a month later. I only made 9 follicles, 7 went to day 5 blasts but only 4 were genetically good. I was somewhat surprised by the fact that I could make so many day 5 blasts but only 4 were viable. I only had 2 embryos tranferred and am pregnant with a little girl. They were the best embryos though, both 5AA, a boy and a girl. The genetically impaired ones were of lesser quality. My RE is in Houston and is associated with Dr. Schoolcraft's IVF clinic in Colorado. On his website, they have much better outcomes with the embryos that go through the CCS (comprehensive chromosome screening) like we did. The CCS testing was an added cost of 6000 dollars, but I am obviously glad we did it. Good luck. I just wanted to post something because I had the exact same FSH as you did and I want to give you hope.
I would say that your age is probably still the biggest barrier and have also read stuff that the highest FSH is indicative - at least the FSH is not rising, I'd think your changes are still better considering you are healthier now.
Great that you got 5 good follies last time. Hopefully this time will be as good!
Best wishes. Hopefully this next attempt will be successful for you.
