I had my oldest son hospital birth, did not like the experience. I was druged up and felt terrible after. My daughter was all natural and I went home the same night, matter of fact I had my husband stopped at Target because I needed something. This pregnancy will be natural as well. There is nothing to be afraid of it's a natural process just less the drugs.

Ive had one with pain medicine and 3 without...! I think it just depends on your pain tolerance...my last I barley even had any pain I went to hospital just BC I had close together cramping I was already 6cm and I had him within 20 mins...but I also have quick labors that run in the family...I just needed my back rubbed and silence...

I've done it. It was amazing and I can't wait to do it again! Spent pretty much my whole pregnancy reminding myself that women have been doing this for the whole of humanity. And that if my mom could do it three times with no drugs then I could so it too. And that I am strong and capable and stubborn and that I have an awesome support system who know I can do anything and that I have midwives who support my choices and will back them up except in the most dire emergency. You know how if you tell yourself something often enough you'll believe it? Positive thinking. Mind over matter. If it is what you want, don't go in saying "well I'll try but if it's too hard I'll take the drugs". Go in saying "I've got this, I'm doing it no matter what, and it's going to be amazing". It's hard, for sure. Hardest thing I've ever done. But I've never felt so strong or so powerful.

I'd recommend child birth class if your hospital offers it. Other than that, just think of it like training for a marathon.  Of course it's totally possible that your labor is like 4 hours and you don't have a lot of pain but more likely is that it's slow and long and painful.
Prenatal yoga helps a lot with breathing techniques and working through pain.

Experience is different for every mom. Some people take long in labour while others it may be for a short time. But don't be scared. ..I have do he it twice and wish would it again naturally but I have a medical condition and must have C-section.  Good luck.

So any suggestions on how to mentally prepare?

Yep. I've done both. It's tough but I didn't have any other option with the second because of fetal stress so I just made it happen.
If you're mentally prepared for it, it'll be a lot easier. I'm going to try to do it again this time around since I have done it before.
Just keep in mind that things don't always go the way you plan so you're better off if you keep an open mind.
