New community leader!

Hello, I have just become a Community Leader on the Pregnancy 35+ forum and I want to introduce myself briefly – for those who don’t already know me here.

I am 43 and like quite a few women on this forum, it took me a long time to get pregnant. A classical story: I got married late in life at 35. We started our baby journey when I was 36, I naively thought it would be easy… it was not. I first had unexplained infertility for 2 years then 3 miscarriages in less than a year and then again no pregnancy. Along the way we also tried fertility treatments and one IVF.

It took me 4 years to get pregnant but I finally got pregnant - naturally! On vacation in Yellowstone, I am half convinced that the sulfur smell of the geysers had something to do with it lol! My baby boy was born when I was 41 and he is now 19 months old, a sweet and vivacious boy who loves saying mama – his favorite word!

I also had an other miscarriage recently (sadly our baby girl had trisomy 18), we are still trying for #2 but I am not hopeful, we probably won’t try for very long.

In my journey to become a mother, I have learned a lot about infertility problems and pregnancy in spite of myself. I am always happy to share whatever I may know here!

My story has a lot of similarities with yours (got married in my 30s, waited til I was 35 to try, was totally naive about my odds, had to do IVF, that old familiar story I guess.) It's been nice to see so many other women who I can relate to on here, so thanks for sharing!
