Newborn around elderly NON Vaccinated grandparent

I am currently 37 weeks pregnant. My Dr recommended that everyone including myself get vaccinated. I have had my TDAP & influenza shot. And my boyfriend is scheduled next week. My issue is that my BF father is 80 years old & his Dr is saying that he is too old to be vaccinated. So now I have the fear of bringing my newborn home to live in a home where everyone is not vaccinated. This man has frequent coughing fits. And doesn't care for himself at all. He literally stays in bed 24 hrs a day. He just gets up to use the bathroom only. I am concerned 4 my new baby & him. Cause I feel he needs to be in at least a assisted living home if not a nursing home. My BF cringes at this & I understand...it's his father. But I'm MORE  concerned about my babies health & his cuz it appears he is just giving up on life. As we sit & watch.

If you keep up to date with baby's shots and are breastfeeding the chances of baby getting sick are slim. The fact you got the tdap during pregnancy will also help a lot.

Thanks alot. Yeah the TDAP is for the whooping cough. That's the 1 I have & the 1 my BF is getting next week. I pray everything works out. And I hadn't thought of the humidifier. I'm going to purchase 1 soon! Thanks again!

The baby will be fine. Keep the baby in your area. W my last baby I had my 6 yro would be sick sometimes & U just have to keep them apart. My friend had 4 kids who were sick when baby came home & they couldn't hold/kiss the baby. Is the grandpa coughing bcuz of bad lungs/age or is he really sick. If he's going to be around the baby get dr masks for him to wear. Wash hands & hand sanitizer. Use a humidifier 24/7 when baby comes home it helps a lot. But Unfortunately the baby can get sick on a trip to the store. Depending on when the baby is born makes a difference. If it's flu season be xtra careful. & not every1 gets the flu shot. But it's a virus so even if you got the shot U can still get the flu. Important vaccine is whooping cough. U & your BF should get that. Good luck.
