No heartbeat, too small at 8-9 weeks

Hi, I had my first appointment at what we estimated to be 8 weeks and 6 days and the doctor said the embryo was too small, more like 5-6 weeks and there was no cardiac activity. I referred to my calendar and if I ovulated late and we conceived a few days after, then the pregnancy would still probably be at over 7 weeks. Is there any hope? I mean, there is always hope, but is there any hope? I am having my hcg levels checked - two blood tests 48 hours apart, and hope for the results tomorrow.

I had my first ultrasound today. According to my LMP, I should  be 8 weeks today.I saw two sacs. One was empty and the other had an embryo but no heartbeat. I have to go in next week for another ultrasound  to see if there's  a heartbeat. I'm  worried and and heartbroken especially since my husband and I are newly separated.

Should I even bother asking for a second sonogram if my hcg level went down almost 4,000 in 48 hours and I've been bleeding with gradually increasing volume for 5 days? No cramps or pain yet.

Unfortunately if your levels are going down and your bleeding is increasing, that's usually not a good sign...

Wow, that is wonderful! I'm afraid I might have to accept bad news. My second hcg reading is down by almost 4,000 to 21,415 from 25,355. I just found out a few minutes ago. Feeling sad all over again.

Yeah, we'll see. I tend to agree with you. It's just my first pregnancy. First hcg is 25355. Should see the comparison tomorrow.

I'm spotting, like a light period, for 4 days now. Zero pain/cramping. I also had zero nausea symptoms the entire pregnancy.
