No prenatal

I know someone that is 43 years old, due in 3 weeks, and hasn't had any prenatal testing. She is going to go to the doctor today (supposedly). What will they screen for? Is there any way to detect Down Syndrome this late? I need questions answered as soon as possilble.

She would have had a blood test done at some point that is an accurate detection if anything was wrong.  I carried a normal healthy beautiful boy at 43 and had no testing at all!  Besides from the bloodtest.  Is she concerned? With 3 weeks left to go, I'd say everything should be ok, but I;m sure if she wanted an amnio done, she could request one.

They can still do amnio I think...  I'm not sure how long it takes to get back the results, but she might have had the baby before she gets them.

They could probably do blood tests too I suppose.

Why get the tests now?  If she is due in just a few weeks she's going to have the baby regardless... unless she just wants to be prepared.  Has she had no prenatal care at all, or just opted to not get the genetic testing done?
