Question about mucus plug?? Hannah? Anyone...??

Ok Girls, This is TMI but I am freaking out a little..I went to the bathroom a few minutes ago and when I wiped there was this huge thick snot looking glob! It was clear (well kind of yellowish color) but had no blood. I know it really doesn't mean that you are definitely going into labor any time soon, but dang with having all these contractions lately and my history of water breaking out of no where I just don't know what to think and now I am freaking out because of not making the 40 minutes trip to the hospital!!!....... AHHHHHH *screaming inside*... ugh! Why can't you just take a Home Labor test... ahahaha.. I should mention.. last night I was so much more into sex then I have been in a REALLY long time, you think this could have anything to do with this??...... Any advice?

OH WOW, how exciting but scary!  Okay, so keep rested and keep him in to cook for at LEAST another week. Are you ready?? I would die right now.... I've never lost my mucus plug. My fears are walking around when DH is out of town and my water breaking. Of course because I'm having a planned c-section and not supposed to go into labor! I'm glad they gave you the steroid shots, that will ripen him right up!! Keep us posted on any changes......Congrats 34 weeks!!

You know.. I had that same thing in my last pregnancy, but it happened around week 10!  I didn't go into labor or anything, so I'm not sure what it was.

Interestingly, I had it again this pregnancy, week 9.  It was just a few globs of what looked like yellowish snot, no odor, not a ton of it.  I've wondered what that could be, because if it were my plug coming out, I obviously wouldn't carry to full term.

???

Thanks so much ladies!!

OK, We're fine! Yay! Brayden is tucked away in there still but the back pain was labor so they gave me steroid shots for the lungs and another terbutaline shot to stop the labor and watched me all night long! I am softer then what I was and a finger tip dialated. So I am progressing. Now it's to bed to rest because they want him in there at least another week. I swear lastnight must have been a full moon or something because I live in a very small town but yet there was 17 women in there in labor.. ahaha They had me out in the hallway on a gurney.. hehe Boy did I feel secure that no one would see anything they didn't want to see. DH kept saying.. well don't they have a spare room anywhere.. but the hospital was completely full! It was funny, but I never got any sleep at all so I am off to bed!

Thanks again!!
Patty

While it is true that labor will begin after your mucus plug has come out, there is no set time for labor to actually begin. Sometimes labor begins within a few hours and sometimes it can take weeks. You can tell your doctor that you think your mucus plug has come out, but there is no reason to pack your bags up and rush to the maternity ward! Sit back, relax and get some rest until other signs of labor begin. However, if your discharge is bright red or is more than a few tablespoons, you should call your caregiver promptly.

Omg, Patty - how are you doing??  Update us tomorrow & keep that little guy in there a little longer so he can keep 'cooking'.  I too second everyone's post that it sounds like you've lost the mucus plug.  I too have lots of pain in the va-jay-jay - not fun, is it???

Hey patty, sounds just like my mucus plug and my water broke approx 24 hours later.  At the time, I did all kinds of reading up on losing your mucus plug and just like all the things like dilating and effacing... it all means that something could happen right away or not for a long while. Everyone is different.

At a min you wanna keep that baby in there until after 34wks, but even then... they are too skinny.  Keep that baby in there as close to 40wks as you can!!

Good luck.

Wow, good luck to you!

When I lost my plug with DD it was a TON of mucus stuff.  So much that I thought my water had broken.  At first it was clear, then got bloody by the time we went to the hospital.  I started contractions right a way and  went into labor that night.  I was two weeks late FYI.

Have you heard from the doctor yet?

Wow, Patti, Good luck! It sounds like you've still got a tiny bit of time to cook but it also sounds like you're not going to make it to your 5/12 due date...just my hunch. Keep us posted!!!

I know my doc said I'm NO WHERE near any baby, and with my last tow I never went into labor and I don't think even ever had a BH, but I've been BH'ing all over the place. I don't think they're real at all, but I also bet that I'll have an earlier c-section than my current 5/13 date...again just a hunch. Of course I thought w/ my daughter that I'd go early...ended up being late.

Grrr.

Good luck!!!

I lost my plug 2 weeks ago. That was on a Saturday and when I went for my appt on Tuesday, I hadn't done anything. The next week Which was last Tuesday and I was 2 cm and softened but not efaced. I had to go to the L&D Friday night and I was no further, and having un-regular contractions....How far along are you?

Sounds like your mucous plug to me. I lost mine 4 days before I was due. I lost it within about 3 bathroom trips one night and the next morning at about 6am my water broke. I hear labor can be weeks away after losing your plug too though. Good luck, sounds like your time may be near!!!

Thanks Ladies,

My official due date isn't until May 12 but I have had to go to the doctor a couple times now due to contractions. At my appointment on Wed I was actually having contractions and she checked me and said my cervix was softening but I was high and closed. But with my last two.. 18 and 10 yrs ago my water broke at home and at the time I didn't pay attention to mucus plugs.. this time around I am aware of absolutely everything that has to do with pregnancies. I'm just not sure what to think now.. I know it can grow back but heck I live 40 minutes from the hospital! EEK!!

DML.. you are so close, I wish you a nice and smooth delivery!!

The same exact thing happened to me, almost exactly how you just described it, and my Dr. told me that it was my mucous plug. I was so confused as to whether or not that's what it was because mine wasn't blood-tinged, or pinkish like you always read about.  I guess the mucous plug and "bloody show" are actually 2 different things.

BUT ...that happened on March 16.  Here we are on March 30 and no baby for me yet...STILL waiting.  My official due date is Wednesday, April 2...and I am out of my mind already.
