I wish I had answers to these questions. Only, my re said hcg levels can be slightly elevated in menopausal women but I doubt it's enough to give a 'positive' on an hpt. I think you should get a blood beta-HCG test at your dr's.
I don't know if maybe age has something to do with the accuracy of the HPTs or not. I have had negative HPTs and blood test all during this pregnancy. They only found it through ultrasound. I kept telling them I felt all pregnancy symptoms but they wouldn't do an ultrasound at 9 weeks because of the negative tests. They finally agreed at 16 weeks and there he was! I will be 51 on Sunday. We are so excited!!!

my mom was 45 when she had my brother..she thought she was going through the *change* and didnt have a period for 2 months,went to the doctor and found out she was pregnant,,after she had him,she never had her period again ..did you try a digital test? i would try that..keep us posted.
