Pregnant with 4th child at 39. Husband is 54.

Hi everyone, yesterday we found out that we are expecting a little one. This is going to be our 4 th child. We have a perfect family with kids aged 13, 10 and 7. I am  39 and my husband is 54. We thought we are not likely to conceive and started practicing  an unprotected sex. We were shocked ar first but are very happy now and ready to welcome this little addition to our family. My only concern now is chromosomal abnormalities because of the age. Does anyone knows anything about a new blood test at 10 weeks? Thank you all!

Can you actually refuse to take the tests? I am 42 & 6wks pregnant. (I have a 15month old and a 17yr old) the odds last time were slim to none of any abnormalities with all the tests I took. Would anything really drastically change in 15months?

I am currently 38 and pregnant with my second. Had my first a yr and a half ago. We had the panaroma test the first time, administered at 9 weeks, got the results at 11 weeks. This fine we had the Counsyl test at 12 weeks, got results at 14 weeks. The panaroma test uses a more advanced technology, and is very slightly more accurate, but wasn't offered by my this time doc. Having worked in child Psychiatry,I an very pro these tests.

Doctor jicjed today saying that have twins because the +sign appeared on the test in seconds and was very thick. I also heard that older woman get better chances at twins, will see.
