Progesterone question

I've been on progesterone since week 5.  I take 2 200mg supplements a day.  Yesterday at my doctor appointment he told me to drop to one supplement a day and when this rx runs out I'll be done.  Thing is, yesterday I measured 9weeks 3 days.  I thought it was typical to be on progesterone until week 12??  It's a bit scary to reduce them now.  What are others' experiences with this?  Does it seem too early to you, or would you just trust the doc?  thanks

I continued with 2 until yesterday when I hit 10 weeks, and now I'm doing one a day until I run out, which will be at 11 weeks.  I'm going to just trust my doc.

Hi,

from my reading progestone supplement is only actually "necessary" for the first 8 weeks.  Your doctor is right.  You should be fine.

I've been going in for weekly ultrasounds since week 6 and I've have a heartbeat since then, but even this week my ob showed me on the u/s where the placenta will be, not where it is already.  Wonder when it develops (or whatever it does )  ?  I think I'll just ask him to continue it to make me feel better.

My ob told me that once h/b is confirmed you do not need progesterone since your placenta is producing it.  I continued with progesterone till 12 weeks since I was afraid to stop though.  If yo uare concerned you can ask for a blood test to check your levels after you stop progesterone.
