Question for the new Mommy's .....

Questions for all the new mommy's??? how are you all dealing with the lack of sleep? I am finding this soo hard.. The first 1 am feeding not so bad .. but by gosh the 3 -5 am just  is kicking my butt.  I guess  the age is showing..lol

Anyone with any good  ideas to help cope with this? My little guy is 11 weeks tomorrow and I am so exhausted! He does sleep from 9-1 am so I get the 4 hrs now.. but the rest of the night stinks!! any  help  or just share your experiences on how you are all dealing and coping!

Thanks Ladies...here to a full night sleep ahead!

Are you able to take a nap during the day when your baby takes a nap?

If not, hubby and I finally figured out a system with our second baby who would be up every 2 hours to nurse. After the 8pm feeding, when our oldest was already in bed, I'd hand baby off to hubby and I'd catch a 2 hour nap until the next feeding, and same thing if hubby was still up after that too. We would switch around midnight when he would go to sleep because he had to work, and I would be up and down with baby through the night. Those extra naps really helped me get through the night.

Hang in there, the newborn stage is fortunately short lived and baby should start sleeping longer at night soon. Best wishes!

Man, I'm totally hearing you about sleep deprivation.  I think your body does okay w/out too much sleep for a while but then it gets a little feisty & demands rest just when you can't.  I'm like you - the 1st feeding's okay but the 2nd one is horrible.  Try to let dh take that 3:00-5:00 a.m. feeding - will that work?

well I will be the bad mom and I say at the 2am feeding I give a bottle of formula so that she will sleep another 5 hours... I find that forumla fills them up for longer... I figure one bottle of formula a day wont kill her... haha... but I do wake up and my boobs are busting at the seems.. but it is worth it to get some sleep

yeah if you are not nursing get DH to take a feeding so you can sleep.  I did ok in the early days but then when Saraya started sleeping more is whenit started to get to me...the more sleep I got the more I wanted. good luck hang in there

This probably won't help but for me to feel better during the night, so that when he got up I'd be fully awake to take care of him and not half asleep, I always turned the tv on.  I knew every show on all night long.  No matter when he woke up, I could turn it to something.  I don't like the feeling of dozing off when I'm feeding him so I turned the lamp and the tv on so I would wake up fully.  It made me feel better. During the day, you just have to take naps when he does.  The other thing we did, was DH would let me go to bed early and he would take care of him until he went to bed.  Then on weekends, he would get up with him on the early feeding like 5:00 or so and then let me sleep in as long as I wanted.  Those little breaks and chances to sleep saved me.
