SCARED

Hi, this is the first time I have posted on anything like this so hope I doing it right??

My 12 week scan came back with high risk for trisomy18... 1:23... The NT was fine apparently at 1.3mm but my bloods came back very low PAPP-A 0.301 and HCG 0.186 and I am 36 years old....
I am booked in for ultrasound and amnio this Monday as I will be 16 weeks!!!!
Its just sooooooooooo terrifying and im trying not to stress too much but its very hard not to think the worst...

Has anyone else had similar experience....

These tests are often incorrect. I had testing done and my levels were all messed up. The dr was telling me what all could be wrong and once I went to a specialist they found I was having twins and all the levels were normal for twins. There are so many factors that go into those odds and your baby has a much stronger chance of being healthy than not, so as hard as it is try to relax until your tests. No matter what the outcome stressing isnt good for either of you. I will pray for the best for you both.

Its your choice but think carefully majority of time they're wrong
After I had my last blood test they said our baby will be more likely downs but he is 4months now & healthy.
Hubby & I decided the day before amnio not to go ahead whatever 2b will just be...good luck!

I haven't had it happen but I can totally understand your being upset and scared, especially w/ Trisomy 18 being such a serious and often fatal condition.  I had an amnio w/ my 1st, but went w/ the blood tests and level 2 ultrasound for the 2nd.  This time around; I did the Maternit21 blood test at 10 wks and will be doing the level 2 ultrasound in about a wk.  Do what you need to do to reassure and prepare yourself in the case there is anything wrong; which hopefully will not be the case.  Its your own personal choice and decision.  And try to think of it as 22 out 23 times it will be fine.  Best wishes for a good result on your tests!

Me too.  I told my doctor I didn't want any testing /amniocentesis because my baby is my baby regardless.
